Sharing our lives mentoring or being mentored is a model of biblical discipleship. My heart beats for this! Having been mentored for years by the same two special ladies has inspired and given me the confidence to mentor others. They have encouraged me to relentlessly pursue Christ in my life, to have courageous faith and confident trust in Him and not in myself.

They have taught me to believe Scripture to be true and applicable for ALL my concerns and they have encouraged me to press on.

The younger. The older. Neither perfect, yet being sanctified.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I spoke with my mother’s best friend of sixty years. She knew me as a little kid. She still loves Jesus. So do I. We spoke over the phone for 45 minutes. She mentored me. Again. I reminded her of a memory I have of her rebuking me when I was young. It was Psalm 19:14 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

Good thing I remembered what she taught me and not what I did. I was glad she had courage to speak the truth in love to me. She said that she and my mom would pray 3 John 1:4 over us kids, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

This is why MORE Mentoring is a vital ministry. The continuance of the family of God walking in Jesus’ truth on earth is pure joy for the older AND the younger. I find great joy in serving as a mentor on the MORE Mentoring Team as I am continually reminded of this truth and have the privilege of passing it on to others.
