This is a wonderful tool to guide discussion, take you and your mentee to deeper levels in your relationship and in your love and adoration for the Lord. The questions are great, it is saturated in Scriptures, each time you meet you focus on an attribute of God, and it is prayer focused teaching us how to pray using the same method Jesus taught his disciples. It is not gender specific so it is perfect for men, women and young adults to use as they get to know each other and grow in their faith and prayer life. I highly recommend it and the MORE Mentoring Program for connecting with others, building relationships and for growing in your faith.

I've mentored informally for years and I have truly never ever seen a better book on the subject. Nancy doesn't just "talk" about the value of mentoring in this book, she gives you the practical tools to DO it. Each session is outlined with just enough information and suggestions to get you going. I say "just enough" because sometimes we get too much information and then the organic nature of mentoring, with rich conversations and rabbit trails that "matter" is lost in a "system." Nancy includes Scripture verses, a steady pointing to God, and simple prayer suggestions that keep the mentoring focused on the One who loves us best. She also has fun conversation starters that just help you get to know and love the one with whom you are working. It's a great mix of fun and momentum. I love this book and am buying a copy for my women's ministry leader at my church and another one for my current mentee. Can't wait to get started.

Years of wondering and waiting for a mentor came to an end when I met Nancy. It was clear that she was the one. It took me two years to ask her to be my mentor. I didn’t know if it was appropriate for me to ask this of her. When I did ask years later, she was ready and willing. We dove right away into the mentoring guide as a purposeful tool to guide our conversation. We live in different states so our time spent together was over the phone. Our conversations were sweet and intimate as we used the conversation starters to get to know one another. The prayer starters were also exactly what I needed to shed myself of the fears that come along with the vulnerabilities of praying out loud. Nancy modeled for me grace and using Scripture as a guideline for having conversations together with Jesus. We would spend time with Jesus together praising, confessing, thanking and asking. We both came away from these sweet times together with strengthened faith and with a renewed perspective that we could face whatever motherhood and life threw our way. Jesus showed up big time. It felt like my strength was renewed every time we got off the phone together.

I had the rare benefit of being trained in person by Nancy herself with a team on mentoring using the book "Together". Nancy is an excellent facilitator, detail oriented, patient in listening and answering questions and very organized. My team and I had a workshop with Nancy and role played the mentor and mentee as well. With this guide, all the hard work has been done already. It makes mentoring so easy to do because I am not worried about what to do or how to be. Its simplicity makes it a great tool for mentoring in a godly way.

Personal Impact Story Hi, I'm Val from West Des Moines, Iowa. I love coffee dates, trail walking, watching sports on TV and road trips. I'm a wife to Joe, Mom to 2 teen daughters and 2 "adulting" daughters, and most importantly a daughter of the King of Kings! A few years ago, I found myself willing (though scared to death!) to mentor a young mom. I wanted to encourage her, pray for her and add value to her life but I didn’t know where to begin!
