Mobilizing mentors to impact lives through prayer-focused mentoring. We offer tools, training and community.

Be a Mobilizer

Aug 09, 2024

By Sarah Brooks & Nancy Lindgren

You see a need. You know that there are men, women, teens and children in your church, school, community, workplace, neighborhood, or organization that are in need of a mentor—but you are only one person. How can you bring a culture of mentorship to your community or church? There are mentors all around you that are ready to be equipped and empowered, and we are here to help you get started!

What is a mobilizer? A mobilizer is someone who mobilizes mentors and helps them connect with mentees. A mobilizer sees the vision of mentorship multiplied.

We know that this can feel daunting, so we have provided some impactful action steps that you can take to be a mobilizer and either start a mentoring ministry or just help connect mentors and mentees organically.

Whether you are a very structured person or lean towards being unstructured, we want to meet you where you’re at with your time, capacity, and resources that you need!

PRAY – To multiply mentoring impact!

This may seem obvious, but we challenge you to take time to pray, worship, journal, fast, and to let God lead you. There is a reason He has placed a desire on your heart to be a mobilizer, and we believe that He will show up. He will guide you to mentors, and He will guide mentors to you! Trust us! It’s crazy cool when this happens! Pray for vision, discernment, wisdom, perseverance, and people! Give it all to Him first, and allow Him to guide you in this process. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need." YES AND AMEN!

GATHER – Potential mentors and mentees

As you pray, the Lord will begin to reveal the people to invite. Ask people who get excited about the topic of mentorship or discipleship. A simple invite via a conversation or a phone call is great! Stay organized and keep a list of potential mentors and mentees. When you find people who are ready to mentor and/or be mentored, it’s time to gather.

You can gather at your home, at a park, at a public space or at your church. What does this gathering look like? It can be very simple! We recommend providing snacks which creates a welcoming atmosphere for conversation and community.

This time of gathering is a time to meet one another and for you to cast your vision and the power of prayer-focused mentoring! As you cast the vision, feel free to use this video to share what the MORE Mentoring ministry is all about: Watch here.

EQUIP – Empowering mentors and mentees

Being a mobilizer can feel daunting, but you aren’t alone. MORE Mentoring is here to support you as you empower others! Our mentoring guides for men, women, teens, children, couples, and seekers are THE best tools to have on the journey of mentoring. Each book is a 12-session guide and personal journal designed to lead mentors and mentees into meaningful conversations, encouragement, and prayer — together. These guides were written to help you connect more quickly and less awkwardly.

In addition to our guides, we suggest the book, Mentoring Made Real, that people can read together to be inspired to step into authentic mentoring relationships.

MORE Mentoring also provides incredible training for men and women. These videos and packets for mentors and mentees provide an opportunity for participants to either watch on their own or watch together and then engage in discussion to share ideas, struggles, and questions.

We encourage you to explore our website to access our mentoring guides and learn more about purchasing the training resources that will support you and your mentors/mentees.

CONNECT – Mentors and mentees who are ready to say yes

The aim for this ministry and our guides is to cultivate connection through prayer-focused relationships for mentors and mentees. That’s what we are all about. The guides are such a great start for that!

This gathering is also about fostering those divine connections, ensuring that everyone is ready to say "yes" to the journey ahead.

If you’re someone who feels called to mobilize others but isn’t sure about diving into the pairing process yourself, gathering people together, as explained above, is a natural way for that to happen. It's an opportunity for mentors and mentees to connect organically, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide them toward the right match.

Our online Community is a supportive space where these connections can blossom. As a mobilizer, you can even start your own group within the Community, helping potential mentors and mentees find each other naturally.

We are so thankful for you and this “yes” forming in your heart! Our goal of seeing one million mentors step into this important role will only be accomplished through mobilizers just like YOU! We are cheering you on and are here to walk alongside you and help in any way we can.
