Val's Impact Story

Dec 04, 2017

by Val Bantz

Hi, I'm Val from West Des Moines, Iowa. I love coffee dates, trail walking, watching sports on TV and road trips.  I'm a wife to Joe, mom to 2 teen daughters and 2 "adulting" daughters, and most importantly I’m a daughter of the King of Kings!

A few years ago, I found myself willing (though scared to death!) to mentor a young mom. I wanted to encourage her, pray for her and add value to her life but I didn’t know where to begin! I wasn’t sure what I had to offer and I didn’t know how to start meaningful conversations to jumpstart such an important relationship. I needed a tool in my tool box!

That’s where MORE Mentoring and this book “Together”...

Happy Thanksgiving

Nov 20, 2017

by Nancy Lindgren

Typically, for our monthly newsletter, I share ministry updates, prayer requests and ideas for how we can partner together, but for this month I would love to just express my thanks to YOU and to GOD.

Verse for blog post 11.20.17 #3.jpg

As we approach this week of Thanksgiving, I’ve been pondering several verses in 1 Thessalonians 5. The first one is verse 18 – “give thanks in all circumstances.” We are to give thanks moment-by-moment, day-by-day, being thankful for the hard circumstances as well as the good. That means we are to live a life of thanksgiving. Why? Does God need it? I think even more so, He knows we need it.

It changes us.

It gives us a new perspective.

It brings peace.

It removes worry.

It refreshes...

Joy's and Patricia's Impact Stories

Nov 13, 2017

Woodbury, Minnesota is where I have lived all my life outside of my years in college. I met my husband in our church’s youth group when we were 16 and married shortly after he graduated from college. Our two boys turned to men and our family has enlarged in the last 3 years with wonderful wives for each of them and one granddaughter who is 1.

Along the road of life, there have been women older than me who have brought me under their wings to mentor me. Starting with my own mom first, then being paired with an older woman back when I was in elementary school through the Pioneer Girl program at our church, continuing with my youth leader’s wife where the process has continued to move forward over a...

The Journey of Together

Oct 30, 2017
by Nancy Lindgren

Shannon and Nancy.jpg

I have been so encouraged by the wonderful responses of many people as my new book, Together, has been published. For being a first-time author who self-published, it has truly been a blessing to see over 100 copies purchased within the first month and to hear such positive feedback.

Let me take you back to over two years ago when I sensed the Lord telling me to write this book. I had been involved in helping our church start a mentoring ministry and there was a mentor and a mentee we had paired together who couldn’t have been more different from one another. They had trouble even knowing how to get a conversation started and especially struggled over praying out loud together.

I so...

A Peek At Our Retreat

Oct 17, 2017

by Nancy Lindgren

We had such a wonderful time at our annual MORE Mentoring Team Retreat in the mountains of Colorado from September 21-24! We did a whole lot more praying, planning and strategizing than we did retreating so we may need to come up with a new name for next year. These women are such a gift to the ministry and it is so fun to watch each one serve with her unique gifts, personality and insights. We are truly better together! These pictures will give you a glimpse of some of what we experienced during our weekend together. We are so thankful for the great unity we experienced.

TOGETHER

Sep 18, 2017

by Nancy Lindgren

I wanted to give you a glimpse into the first pages of our brand new mentoring guide called TOGETHER that is soon to be available for purchase. Much prayer has gone into this tool and I'm believing God will use it mightily in the lives of mentors and mentees to draw us closer to Him and to each other.

FROM MY HEART TO YOURS

Life is hard. It’s messy. I have issues. You have issues. We need each other. We’re made that way – our hearts are designed to connect with others. In life, our journey will have unexpected twists and turns, sometimes that leave us on shaky ground. We can feel stuck, in a rut, and unable to move. And the enemy of our souls wants us there. He especially...

I am a mommy of three high-energy boys ages 9, 6 and 3. I have been married to my college sweetheart for 14 years and we live an active lifestyle in Lakewood, CO. As a family, we enjoy hiking, camping, rafting, biking…anything to burn off the energy in our boys. When I have some free time to myself I enjoy spending time alone reading, crafting, sewing, decorating, baking and cooking. The key words in that sentence are “time alone.”

Since becoming a mother, the biggest change...

Information vs Intimacy

Sep 04, 2017

by Nancy Lindgren

I’m feeling the overload of information this morning. It makes me want to shout TMI!

There is information coming at us from all angles. . .blog posts, advertisements, social media, podcasts, books, etc. You name it. It’s instant and it’s constant. Most of it is easily accessible right from my phone. Can anyone relate? I can’t even count how many times I had to confess this morning of my addiction to my phone. It’s such a distraction and an overload of information.

I had this thought today: Are we missing out on intimacy with God because of all the information we are receiving from everyone else?

What is intimacy? A friend recently described it like this...
